Chelsea players in exchange for Rice
If the worst/inevitable happens and Rice goes to Chelsea there is a good chance we will take at least one if not two of their players as part of the deal. Probably one permanently and one of the younger players on loan.

Which 2 would you take from the list below given the choice?

Bakayoko
Rudgier
Barkley
Tomori (loan)
Loftus Cheek (loan)
Hudson Odou (loan)
Abrahams (loan)

Alan Hudson & Peter Osgood
They'd have to dig Osgood up and Hudson is an alcoholic cripple but would be more effective than Anderson and Haller

A lot of the media saying rice for rudiger and loftus cheek makes sense and should be completed before the deadline...

If they chucked in Hudson Odi or Tomori, would you take it?

We’ll take 50 mill at the end of the window with no time to recruit. Come the jan window the 50 mill will have been trousered and we’re skint again. It’s the West Ham Way.

We need defenders so taking defenders who can’t get into a team whose defence is shocking leaves a bit to be desired

If he does go then Sullivan should pay Levy or the bloke at Leicester to do the negotiations over a fee as he's fucking hopeless, absolute peanuts for Payet, Arnie and Parker when we were relegated, Sullivan and Brady are so out of their depth!!

Can we get Levy in on loan to negotiate the Rice transfer please?, thanks

If they want to offload their mouldy oranges in brightly coloured tissue paper then they can fuck off. Plus, we don't want to sell him anyway.

If I had to choose then Rudiger and Ampadu who has gone on loan to Sheff Utd. That boy is going to be mustard.

They will be looking to offload the eternal prospect that will never explode that is Barkley.

He'll reach 32 and people will still be going

"He was a good prospect at Everton you know"

Arko, i make you right on the outrage from the fans in that scenario but the media will be split between the real journos who will smell blood and go for GSB and the hacks like Jim White, Sky, etc who will say 'well little old West Ham couldnt expect to keep a player like Rice so should just be happy with £50m (as i have no confidence in the negotiating of Statler and Waldorf) and move on'. The media equivalent of a patronizing pat on the head.

Re: Chelsea players in exchange for Rice
No point selling Rice , as he is our strongest midfielder and can step into being a defender.

So if we sell him we will have to buy both who wont be better. Plus we already have the Diang money for reinforcements right.

We won’t do a swap because we would still have to pay the players wages out of our own money box and it would be a higher weekly outlay than Rices sweet and chocolate money.

Think of the Noble tweet after the Diangana sale, the social media uproar, when the kid got sold against the wishes of the manager, the teammates, even Diangana himself.

If they do the same with Rice (and I haven't heard he wants to leave), you can multiply the reaction by factor ten.
Sullivan won't know what's coming and even games being played with no fans won't save him.

Social media criticism will be non-stop. Noble, Moyes and the team will react (they can't exactly down tools, but they won't be happy). The media will continue to smell blood, especially if it's a crap deal for Rice. If Sullivan goes through with it, it may well be the last mistake he will ever make at running this club.

If he goes it will be 100% down to the board for failing over 10 years to turn West Ham into a club that have ambitions that match his own.

That's all there is to it. Make West Ham the place to further one's career, not just a shop window for academy products.

The more that comes out of Sullivan's mouth, the more convinced I am that Payet actually twigged what was happening and tried to do something about it.

The board, in a classic example of cutting their own nose off to spite their face, decided to show thim that no player was bigger than them - not the club, but them.

I'm sure we could all have tolerated a "Messi-lite" situation at West Ham with Payet if it got us to that mythical and mystical next level.

There's no chance these clowns would reinvest whatever we get for him

Player exchanges would probably be a better option in reality

Re: Chelsea players in exchange for Rice
The board have no way back if they do sell Rice.

I don't want him to go, as he means a lot for the club, but he isnt irreplaceable.
